39 Reasons Why I Left The Corporate World & Became A Personal Brand

1. I realized early on that I didn’t fit into the corporate world.

2. I didn’t like the corporate world and all its ‘fakeness’ or its desire to be ‘politically correct’ and ‘polite’. I wanted to call a spade – a spade.

3. It wasn’t me living a life – I was living a routine.

4. I realized I would be a slave forever to this system.

5. Whatever I did or contributed – all that effort wasn’t me.

6. Wanted to Break away from the 9 to 5 lifestyle.

7. Wanted to be an authority & expert.

8. I didn’t want to take someone else’s business card with my name typed on it with a dummy designation and introduce myself as a slave to that company.

9. I saw others earning per hour and enjoying a luxurious life and going for holidays whenever they wanted.

10. I realised there were many people living with Flexibility in Operation & Lifestyle. I wanted part of that.

11. I wanted to create a lifestyle where whatever work and contributions I made – I could take with me wherever I wanted. The problem with working for a company was that – the day I would leave the company – all the contributions I made to the company would be with the company. And if I joined a new company – I would have to start from zero and prove myself from zero all over again.

12. I wanted to earn as much as I like.

13. I wanted to wear – whatever I wanted to wear.

14. I wanted respect for being “ME” and not an “employee” of a respected company.

15. I hated Office Politics.

16. Working for someone was forever unpredictable

17. Success in the corporate world depended on the authority of someone above me. And if he didn’t like me – that was the end of my success phase.

18. I hated pleasing others – Clients, Customers, Boss, Colleagues, Vendors & Suppliers. I was fed up!

19. I didn’t want to dance to anyone’s tunes just because he had a dummy title. And even worse was respecting someone I didn’t want to respect.

20. I wanted to be in control of my own destiny, time and lifestyle.

21. I wanted to earn as much as I wanted & rest & switch off whenever I wanted to with having to get a sick-leave-certificate.

22. I have always been restless, creative, a rebel and loved to do my own thing.

23. Loved reinventing ways and means of working. Constantly trying and experimenting new things.

24. I didn’t believe in reporting to work on time.

25. I didn’t believe in calling anyone above me “Sir” or “Madam” just because he or she had more experience than me in ONLY that given job or because he or she was my customer or client.

26. I kept failing in whatever I was doing because it was at its best – boring! I wasn’t contributing to my own brand. It felt like a job!

27. I felt a greater sense of passion knowing that what I was working for – was my own baby and would be mine forever! I wanted to create my own brand!

28. Even if I put in 100%, the ROI wouldn’t be 100%. It would be less.

29. I didn’t like when my ideas were rejected and I also hated the fact that I had to convince the world for implementing my ideas.

30. The day I resigned from the company – it would be that person’s brand and not mine which would remain.

31. I wanted to be myself – which I could never do working for the corporate world.

32. Every time I changed a job – I had to start from scratch.

33. My progress was based on the whims and fancies of others.

34. Whatever I created or made – was finally – someone else’s. And to watch someone else take credit or get a bonus for it – I hated it.

35. No matter what position or salary or successful I was – End of the day I was recognized as an employee.

36. There would be a limit to how much I earned.

37. No great visionary or legend or artist or memorable brand was an Employee.

38. If I made a good deal or got a bonus I could take many weeks off without any work!

39. There was always the risk of Management Change or Unpredictable factors which I couldn’t control where my hard work could still go down the drain.

7 Things to Do to Prepare For Your First Sales Call

Whenever you have a sales call scheduled with a new sales prospect – treat it like a golden opportunity.

Because in fact this first sales call, could be a golden opportunity for you. What if your new sales prospect has the potential to become your largest customer.

What would the lifetime value of your largest customer add up to?

Here are seven things you must do before calling on every new sales prospect.

Thing you must do # 1:

Be sure to do your homework and that means making Google your first stop. Do a search on the person’s name, the company name, and the name of their best selling product. You might be surprised with the results you get.

Thing you must do # 2:

Now this is a little thing that can have a big impact. It can create a powerful first impression for you.

Go to an office supply store and buy a dozen red file folders. While you’re at the store buy Avery product #8366 which are white file folder labels. Prepare a label with the name of your new sales prospect.

Imagine your prospect’s reaction to seeing his name on this red file folder. He will immediately consider you professional, organized, successful, and different from most other salespeople he has experienced in the past.

A little thing with a big impact.

Thing you must do # 3:

You must have a written sales call objective for your first sales call. Your written objectives for this sales call can include: to build rapport, establish credibility, to ask 3-5 open-ended questions, to identify one common interest you share, and to secure agreement for your second meeting.

Your written sales call objectives will scream “Professionalism.” By contrast most salespeople arrive like a tourist just taking in the sights – pity the poor sales prospect who must put up with this display of mediocrity.

Thing you must do # 4:

To get the ball rolling, building rapport and establishing credibility, I suggest you prepare and practice 3 – 5 open-ended questions.

Nothing shows your interest more than the questions you ask – so be sure to ask good questions.

You can start with… tell me about your business… what are your responsibilities… in addition to you who else is involved in making decisions for… what are the biggest challenges you’re facing growing your business?

Once again asking these questions will demonstrate your interest and professionalism and differentiate you from most salespeople.

Thing you must do # 5:

If you enjoy playing the telephone tag game you can immediately proceed to # 6. It’s absolutely amazing how many salespeople neglect to secure the meeting time and date for the second meeting.

Once you have qualified your sales prospect as a potential customer don’t forget and never hesitate to ask for the second meeting. Do not attempt improvisation. Prepare and practice how you will ask for the second meeting.

Thing you must do # 6:

This next thing is especially important if you happen to be a serious person. Before you get out of your car check your rearview mirror to make sure you’re smiling.

Trust me, when you’re caught in traffic, running a little late, just ended a telephone call with a disgruntled customer – please don’t think you have a happy face on. Check your mirror to check your smile.

Thing you must do # 7:

Try this affirmation on for size “This will be my best sales call ever to a new sales prospect.”

Right after you check to make sure you’re smiling saying this affirmation fills your mind with positive thoughts and words squeezing out any potential negativity.

You may not realize this but you are in complete control of your thoughts. And of course you know how you think is everything!

There’s a huge difference between self-doubt and self-confidence and both are controlled by your thoughts.

This affirmation creates the perfect mindset for a very successful sales call.

Just try it once and see how much better you feel.

Now you know the 7 things you must do to prepare for your first sales call. Believe it or not you now have a 7-point system for making sales calls on new prospects.

Use this system to make every sales call better than the last one.

Let’s go sell something…

Vegas Beyond Today and Tomorrow at the New M Resort and Casino

Las Vegas, has always stood for value. Overtime, they have been building mega casinos, with literally thousands of rooms and thousands of square feet, and the crowds have loved it. City Center, is a multi billion dollar investment, with over half the money coming in from Dubai, to finance the project, that is owned my MGM.

With the current economy, and most major resort casinos, losing money, going into bankruptcy and loans becoming due that most casinos, with their current debt load cannot possibly pay, are looking for alternative ways to keep the crowds coming in and make a profit.

One such new casino, is the new M resort and spa, that opened, just last month on the far south of the strip, even beyond Southpoint resort and casino. The “M” resort is very unique and perhaps an indication of the wave of the future. For instance, have you ever heard of a casino, anywhere in the World, having a fully staffed pharmacy, right next to slot machines? Yep, for sure, there it is right next to the sound of those winning slot machines, on the casino floor. What in heavens name, is a pharmacy doing in a casino , you might just wonder. Well, folks, the demographics of America and the over all population are changing. More and more people are becoming older and no longer want the multi mega casinos that were built in the 80’s and 90’s..

Seniors, want a more closed in casino, where they do not have to walk a mile to get to their destination, often just a bathroom, takes several city blocks in a mega casino to reach. And as for the pharmacy, do you know how many seniors, are on some prescription, millions of us, a definite plus for the new “M” that will bring them repeat business for having been the fore runner of this new era.

They also have a buffet, that after 40 years in coming to Vegas, and having eaten at almost every buffet in town, including the new Wynn, hands down beats every buffet in this city, in price, service, selection and ambiance of the surrounding atmosphere in the M buffet. Would you believe, they serve premium beer and wine, along with a buffet selection of over 100 dishes from around the World, including a mini sushi selection. On by the way, did I mention the dessert bar, with a selection of the finest desserts in the World. Did I mention , the fresh baked sliced bread—Wow, simply a 5 star place, at a one star price folks! The modern moving graphics above the buffet walls are like no other, you have ever seen.

This place even has a wine cellar, like no other in the country, including the wine area of Napa valley in California. Have you ever sampled wine, sold by 1, 2 or 3 ounce glass, sold by a credit card. Simply, put your credit card in the vintage wine bottle of your choice, press the button, and out pours your premium wine selection for your taste buds, not to mention a relaxing ambiance lounge to relax in.

I could go on and on and simply rave about this resort. Did I mention the unique, serve your self water and soda bar in the middle of the casino, like no other in Las Vegas.

In conclusion, the “M” is truly, the new wave of the future for Las Vegas, a 5 star place, at a 1 star budget, recommend it with no reservations.

How to Get a Domain Name for an Internet Business Newbie?

Getting a domain name is an important criterion to start an online business. In this article, I’m going to teach you: what is a domain name, how to get one and why do we need it.

First of all,

What is a domain name?

Whenever we visit a website like Google, the address “Google.com” is actually their domain name.

Can we get it for free?

Apparently not, if you are lucky, you might only need around $9 to $12 to register your own domain name for one year. You just have to find out where to get it. There are some websites which sell domain name. You can try to search for it on Google or Yahoo.

Why do we need it?

Your will need it to publish your own website, sales page or blog to sell your own product or affiliates product. NEVER use free sources for example, Blogspot.com or WordPress.com as your business website. The owner of these websites might close down your website anytime without any notice. All your effort will be wash down the drain.

How do I name it?

You can name your domain name anyway you want, but it is better that you name it relevant to the field you are going into and it is better that your domain ends with a .com . For example, if you want to start an online business about losing weight, your keyword should be “lose weight”. Therefore, you can name your domain name like howtoloseweight.com or loseweight.com or any other names which are similar.

Someone had bought the domain name that I have in mind, what to do now?

If you want the domain name that someone else had bought, you can actually buy from them, but at a more expensive price. Most people are not willing to pay for the price. So, you can change the keyword sequence or to some other related keywords like “slim down” or “burn fat”. If you cannot think of any words, you can check the thesaurus for more alternative words.

Now, I got my domain name, what to do now?

Now, you will have to find a web hosting to host your website. The cost can be quite high depending on the package you take. But what is web hosting? Web hosting is similar to a shop lot rental in real life. For example, when you are opening a McDonald franchise, you will need to buy a shop lot to open your McDonald. Same to opening a website, you need a web host to put your domain name on.

Now you got your domain name and web hosting now, the last step will be putting up HTML on your website. Finally, you can start your online business.

How I Stumbled and Then Learned to Make Real Money on the Internet

I own a small business and when the Recession came on, we got hit pretty hard. And I thought I was prepared. I had a year’s worth of money saved in the bank, just like everyone told me to do. Well, nobody expected this recession to be so deep and to last so long. Around six months ago, I realized that my savings were at risk and I might not make it through to the other side of the downturn. I had to find a way to bring in more money, but I couldn’t get out of my business.

I started looking online, running Google searches on how to make money online. I read words like Affiliate Marketing, SEO, ClickBank, MicroSite, Niche Markets, etc. I was overwhelmed and I wanted to make money quickly. I did not know where to begin.

I also considered writing an eBook. I got about 15 pages into a topic that I thought I might be able to sell, but I was disappointed with the content. In addition, I did not know how to build a site and even if I did, I did not know how to drive traffic to the site to sell the eBook. I never published it.

My next step was going to every site I could find that claimed to have the path to overnight riches online. I put my name into pages to gain access without realizing I was building people’s mailing list. Soon, my Gmail account was getting flooded with so many enticing messages that I didn’t know where to turn. I must have joined 3 or 4 different sites and bought half a dozen eBooks. You know what? The get rich quick sites were usually the worst. Now I was in for a few hundred dollars and I was suffering from information overload. I almost quit again.

At this point, I was behind on time and I was actually in worse financial shape than when i started. I had to wipe the slate clean and start over.

Step one: I realized that I did not have to have my own product or eBook to sell. I now understood that I could make money selling other people’s products. I opened a ClickBank account for free, giving me access to other peoples’ products. These people are willing to pay a commission of up to 75% of their product’s cost if you can get someone to buy it.

Step two: I learned how to register my own domain names and forward them to my new partners. There are a lot of low cost sites, but I chose GoDaddy because of its user friendly interface. I also learned that if I registered a domain name that I did not want to buy all of the add ons. GoDaddy is very good at trying to upsell additional products. You usually don’t need any of them.

OK, now I was stuck again. For days. Then I learned step three: I needed to find a program, just one program that taught internet marketing, and stick to it. I recommend that you run some queries about online marketing, make a list of half a dozen sites that look and feel legit, and write down their names without joining. Then research the sites using their names and words like “feedback” in Google, Bing, whatever search engine you like.

Then, join only one group or program. It will cost you a little money, but it’s worth it. The time you will save by following someone else’s blueprint will make you money much faster than you can on your own.

You should be able to get some sample training materials before you join. Don’t join anyone who gives you no information before you join. Stick with the group you join for at least one month, maybe two. Most quality programs have a 60 day, money back guarantee. You will know in less than two months if you joined a quality site or not.

Lastly, realize that you won’t get rich quickly. However, if you invest a little bit of time each day with a quality program (you can find mine at the end of this article), you CAN and WILL make money online. And the earnings will compound themselves and grow over time. Be patient and have fun. The money will come fastest if you learn from others and don’t try to reinvent the wheel on your own.

5 Steps For Finding the Right Business Online

Simple and honest advice as to how not to be taken in on an Internet business scam. Follow these simple 5 steps and you will save yourself a lot of wasted time, energy and money.

Number 1. Do your diligent research above all else, do not act on your emotions. This would include, making sure you Google a. name of the person that is trying to bring you into the business. b. name of the company. c. name of the product. This will give you a dearth of information you can use, when making your decision to join or not to join this business.

Number 2. Make sure that the business you will be joining has a high profit margin and high cash flow. Too often people join a multi-level marketing company, and push pills, vitamins, lotions, and potions, insurance, vacations, health and energy drinks, etc. They have to put in hundreds of hours on the phones, and try to make a small profit on hundreds of items. Simply, does not leverage your time.

Number 3. Marketing will be the key to your business success. So make sure you have have a market for the products your promoting, and for sure target that market. You should have high technology internet tools, such as, an automated auto responders, emails, templates, lead capture pages, just to name a few.

Number 4. Training and mentoring. Without a doubt, make sure there is support and training provided and that your never left alone in the new business venture. There should be a training site, live conference calls and the person that brought you in, should also be a good coach and trainer.

Number 5. This is the most important point. Who ever is trying to bring you into this new business, simply do the following. Ask that person for at least 2 references with phone numbers of people that are making at least 50K per year on a part time basis. If the person, refuses to give you the names and phone numbers, and says something like that information is “confidential”, avoid that business. When you do get the references, call those references up and interview them about the business.

So, if you follow the above, will it assure your success in an internet business. Naturally, there are no guarantees, but it will go a long way to finding a legitimate business on the Internet.

Naming a Business – Ideas to Be Creative

Naming a business is more than just a title or description of your business, it is the initial representation of what you produce/supply/offer. So, with this in mind, you’ll want to name your business something memorable / catchy / funny / unusual.

What are your options when naming a business?

Your first and easiest option would be to pay a specialist branding company to come up with a name for you. This may or may not be the perfect name for your business, but I can tell you it will certainly be expensive!

Second option would be to throw some names around between friends and family and pick the one that seems to stand out the most. This is a very hit and miss option and you are relying on people who may not be the most objective.

The third option (and in my opinion the best) would be to do some serious targeted research on the internet and find out exactly what people on the internet search for. If people are searching for specific words/terms, then surely it would make sense to adopt those words when naming a business.

I use a free tool from Google called the ‘Keyword Selector Tool’. It allows you to put in your main keyword or phrase, and it will then generate a list of keywords that are directly related.

The best way to use the tool is to try and look for synonyms (similar words that mean the same) for your keyword. e.g. ‘Dog’/’Canine’.

Make a list of as many words as you can and put them into a text document. You can then add/mix/sort all the keywords until you come up with a great business name.

The keyword selector tool will also tell you how many times per month that word or phrase has been searched for (a great indicator of popularity). It’s obvious that the more times the keyword is searched for, the public must relate more to that keyword than others.

Now is the time to ask family and friends their opinion. Now the real research has been done and naming a business is not just a stab in the dark.

Once you have decided on a few names, then you need to go and see if they have already been taken. If not, get it registered as soon as possible and then get yourself a domain name. Even if you have no intention of using the internet for promotion just yet, don’t dismiss it out of hand, the way things are going, the internet will be an important part of many businesses in the future.

So You Want to Start Your Own Real Estate Business, Huh?

First, allow me to say congratulations on deciding to be your own boss. It is one of the toughest and scariest, yet rewarding decisions an individual can make. You are about to venture on an incredible, life-long journey filled with limitless possibilities. However, make sure you are properly prepared, or else the outcome may be devastating.

The main purpose of this article is to serve as a detailed checklist for preparing, creating and structuring your own real estate business. I will also explain the advantages of detailed planning and management, and the pitfalls for failure to do so. First things first: what’s the name of your new company? What type of business entity will you form? A sole proprietorship is the quickest and easiest; however, it may lack the necessary asset and liability protection warranted by your business model. My personal favorite has always been the Limited Liability Company (LLC). It’s quick, inexpensive, and provides individual shelter.

In addition, in which state will you register to do business? Are there any state and/or local licensing requirements? All of these questions should already be answered in your business plan. Some of you may be thinking, “I am going to buy foreclosed properties, rehab them, and sell them for a profit. What further explanation or planning do I need?” Well, if this is your mindset, stick to your full-time job. I recommend going online (Google it) and downloading a business plan template to assist you with development.

In addition to your business plan, you better have projected financial statements, including a cash flow forecast, projected income statement, and anticipated balance sheet. There are numerous advantages of generating these statements. Clearly depicting your yearly operating expenses allows you to recognize the number of real estate transactions you need to successfully complete in order to break even and/or realize a profit. Taking the time and effort to implement these tasks will help you overcome some of the major impediments when starting your real estate business.

The biggest recurring mistake I’ve seen amateur entrepreneurs make is quitting their full-time job even before completing their very first real estate deal! Undercapitalization is one of the biggest oversights when starting a new business. If you do decide to quit your full-time job, make sure you have enough of a monetary cushion to cover your living expenses for twelve months. Ideally, you want to have a surplus in your bank account in order to fund your business (i.e. – entity formation fees, licensing, marketing expenses).

Finally, will you be self-employed or a business owner? No, they are not the same thing! Being self-employed means when you stop working, your business stops working. If you are not marketing for leads or answering phones, then no one is. Being a business owner (hiring and maintaining employees) allows the freedom and independence that entice people to start their own businesses in the first place. Most amateurs quit their full-time job expecting to start and sustain their own business profitably, while playing golf or going to the beach four days a week. WRONG! The transition from self-employment to business ownership is the hardest obstacle to overcome. It took me almost a year of interviewing hundreds of job applicants, working fourteen hour days, pulling all-nighters, and sacrificing my personal and social life to successfully build and develop each of my businesses to the point where they could all run on “Auto-Pilot.”Remember, a business is only as strong as its weakest link.

I hope that what I have shared with you has been of great value. These observations and opinions are my own and stem from what I have learned and experienced over the last five years by way of educational literature, private entrepreneurship meet-up groups, numerous real networking events, and, by far the most crucial and valuable means, trial and error. Still there is so much to discuss and write considering that this topic, in itself, serves as the basis for three hundred page bibles! At the very least, herein lies the grounds and basic framework for preparing to start your own real estate business including obstacles to anticipate.
