How to Get a Domain Name for an Internet Business Newbie?

Getting a domain name is an important criterion to start an online business. In this article, I’m going to teach you: what is a domain name, how to get one and why do we need it.

First of all,

What is a domain name?

Whenever we visit a website like Google, the address “Google.com” is actually their domain name.

Can we get it for free?

Apparently not, if you are lucky, you might only need around $9 to $12 to register your own domain name for one year. You just have to find out where to get it. There are some websites which sell domain name. You can try to search for it on Google or Yahoo.

Why do we need it?

Your will need it to publish your own website, sales page or blog to sell your own product or affiliates product. NEVER use free sources for example, Blogspot.com or WordPress.com as your business website. The owner of these websites might close down your website anytime without any notice. All your effort will be wash down the drain.

How do I name it?

You can name your domain name anyway you want, but it is better that you name it relevant to the field you are going into and it is better that your domain ends with a .com . For example, if you want to start an online business about losing weight, your keyword should be “lose weight”. Therefore, you can name your domain name like howtoloseweight.com or loseweight.com or any other names which are similar.

Someone had bought the domain name that I have in mind, what to do now?

If you want the domain name that someone else had bought, you can actually buy from them, but at a more expensive price. Most people are not willing to pay for the price. So, you can change the keyword sequence or to some other related keywords like “slim down” or “burn fat”. If you cannot think of any words, you can check the thesaurus for more alternative words.

Now, I got my domain name, what to do now?

Now, you will have to find a web hosting to host your website. The cost can be quite high depending on the package you take. But what is web hosting? Web hosting is similar to a shop lot rental in real life. For example, when you are opening a McDonald franchise, you will need to buy a shop lot to open your McDonald. Same to opening a website, you need a web host to put your domain name on.

Now you got your domain name and web hosting now, the last step will be putting up HTML on your website. Finally, you can start your online business.

How I Stumbled and Then Learned to Make Real Money on the Internet

I own a small business and when the Recession came on, we got hit pretty hard. And I thought I was prepared. I had a year’s worth of money saved in the bank, just like everyone told me to do. Well, nobody expected this recession to be so deep and to last so long. Around six months ago, I realized that my savings were at risk and I might not make it through to the other side of the downturn. I had to find a way to bring in more money, but I couldn’t get out of my business.

I started looking online, running Google searches on how to make money online. I read words like Affiliate Marketing, SEO, ClickBank, MicroSite, Niche Markets, etc. I was overwhelmed and I wanted to make money quickly. I did not know where to begin.

I also considered writing an eBook. I got about 15 pages into a topic that I thought I might be able to sell, but I was disappointed with the content. In addition, I did not know how to build a site and even if I did, I did not know how to drive traffic to the site to sell the eBook. I never published it.

My next step was going to every site I could find that claimed to have the path to overnight riches online. I put my name into pages to gain access without realizing I was building people’s mailing list. Soon, my Gmail account was getting flooded with so many enticing messages that I didn’t know where to turn. I must have joined 3 or 4 different sites and bought half a dozen eBooks. You know what? The get rich quick sites were usually the worst. Now I was in for a few hundred dollars and I was suffering from information overload. I almost quit again.

At this point, I was behind on time and I was actually in worse financial shape than when i started. I had to wipe the slate clean and start over.

Step one: I realized that I did not have to have my own product or eBook to sell. I now understood that I could make money selling other people’s products. I opened a ClickBank account for free, giving me access to other peoples’ products. These people are willing to pay a commission of up to 75% of their product’s cost if you can get someone to buy it.

Step two: I learned how to register my own domain names and forward them to my new partners. There are a lot of low cost sites, but I chose GoDaddy because of its user friendly interface. I also learned that if I registered a domain name that I did not want to buy all of the add ons. GoDaddy is very good at trying to upsell additional products. You usually don’t need any of them.

OK, now I was stuck again. For days. Then I learned step three: I needed to find a program, just one program that taught internet marketing, and stick to it. I recommend that you run some queries about online marketing, make a list of half a dozen sites that look and feel legit, and write down their names without joining. Then research the sites using their names and words like “feedback” in Google, Bing, whatever search engine you like.

Then, join only one group or program. It will cost you a little money, but it’s worth it. The time you will save by following someone else’s blueprint will make you money much faster than you can on your own.

You should be able to get some sample training materials before you join. Don’t join anyone who gives you no information before you join. Stick with the group you join for at least one month, maybe two. Most quality programs have a 60 day, money back guarantee. You will know in less than two months if you joined a quality site or not.

Lastly, realize that you won’t get rich quickly. However, if you invest a little bit of time each day with a quality program (you can find mine at the end of this article), you CAN and WILL make money online. And the earnings will compound themselves and grow over time. Be patient and have fun. The money will come fastest if you learn from others and don’t try to reinvent the wheel on your own.

5 Steps For Finding the Right Business Online

Simple and honest advice as to how not to be taken in on an Internet business scam. Follow these simple 5 steps and you will save yourself a lot of wasted time, energy and money.

Number 1. Do your diligent research above all else, do not act on your emotions. This would include, making sure you Google a. name of the person that is trying to bring you into the business. b. name of the company. c. name of the product. This will give you a dearth of information you can use, when making your decision to join or not to join this business.

Number 2. Make sure that the business you will be joining has a high profit margin and high cash flow. Too often people join a multi-level marketing company, and push pills, vitamins, lotions, and potions, insurance, vacations, health and energy drinks, etc. They have to put in hundreds of hours on the phones, and try to make a small profit on hundreds of items. Simply, does not leverage your time.

Number 3. Marketing will be the key to your business success. So make sure you have have a market for the products your promoting, and for sure target that market. You should have high technology internet tools, such as, an automated auto responders, emails, templates, lead capture pages, just to name a few.

Number 4. Training and mentoring. Without a doubt, make sure there is support and training provided and that your never left alone in the new business venture. There should be a training site, live conference calls and the person that brought you in, should also be a good coach and trainer.

Number 5. This is the most important point. Who ever is trying to bring you into this new business, simply do the following. Ask that person for at least 2 references with phone numbers of people that are making at least 50K per year on a part time basis. If the person, refuses to give you the names and phone numbers, and says something like that information is “confidential”, avoid that business. When you do get the references, call those references up and interview them about the business.

So, if you follow the above, will it assure your success in an internet business. Naturally, there are no guarantees, but it will go a long way to finding a legitimate business on the Internet.

Naming a Business – Ideas to Be Creative

Naming a business is more than just a title or description of your business, it is the initial representation of what you produce/supply/offer. So, with this in mind, you’ll want to name your business something memorable / catchy / funny / unusual.

What are your options when naming a business?

Your first and easiest option would be to pay a specialist branding company to come up with a name for you. This may or may not be the perfect name for your business, but I can tell you it will certainly be expensive!

Second option would be to throw some names around between friends and family and pick the one that seems to stand out the most. This is a very hit and miss option and you are relying on people who may not be the most objective.

The third option (and in my opinion the best) would be to do some serious targeted research on the internet and find out exactly what people on the internet search for. If people are searching for specific words/terms, then surely it would make sense to adopt those words when naming a business.

I use a free tool from Google called the ‘Keyword Selector Tool’. It allows you to put in your main keyword or phrase, and it will then generate a list of keywords that are directly related.

The best way to use the tool is to try and look for synonyms (similar words that mean the same) for your keyword. e.g. ‘Dog’/’Canine’.

Make a list of as many words as you can and put them into a text document. You can then add/mix/sort all the keywords until you come up with a great business name.

The keyword selector tool will also tell you how many times per month that word or phrase has been searched for (a great indicator of popularity). It’s obvious that the more times the keyword is searched for, the public must relate more to that keyword than others.

Now is the time to ask family and friends their opinion. Now the real research has been done and naming a business is not just a stab in the dark.

Once you have decided on a few names, then you need to go and see if they have already been taken. If not, get it registered as soon as possible and then get yourself a domain name. Even if you have no intention of using the internet for promotion just yet, don’t dismiss it out of hand, the way things are going, the internet will be an important part of many businesses in the future.

So You Want to Start Your Own Real Estate Business, Huh?

First, allow me to say congratulations on deciding to be your own boss. It is one of the toughest and scariest, yet rewarding decisions an individual can make. You are about to venture on an incredible, life-long journey filled with limitless possibilities. However, make sure you are properly prepared, or else the outcome may be devastating.

The main purpose of this article is to serve as a detailed checklist for preparing, creating and structuring your own real estate business. I will also explain the advantages of detailed planning and management, and the pitfalls for failure to do so. First things first: what’s the name of your new company? What type of business entity will you form? A sole proprietorship is the quickest and easiest; however, it may lack the necessary asset and liability protection warranted by your business model. My personal favorite has always been the Limited Liability Company (LLC). It’s quick, inexpensive, and provides individual shelter.

In addition, in which state will you register to do business? Are there any state and/or local licensing requirements? All of these questions should already be answered in your business plan. Some of you may be thinking, “I am going to buy foreclosed properties, rehab them, and sell them for a profit. What further explanation or planning do I need?” Well, if this is your mindset, stick to your full-time job. I recommend going online (Google it) and downloading a business plan template to assist you with development.

In addition to your business plan, you better have projected financial statements, including a cash flow forecast, projected income statement, and anticipated balance sheet. There are numerous advantages of generating these statements. Clearly depicting your yearly operating expenses allows you to recognize the number of real estate transactions you need to successfully complete in order to break even and/or realize a profit. Taking the time and effort to implement these tasks will help you overcome some of the major impediments when starting your real estate business.

The biggest recurring mistake I’ve seen amateur entrepreneurs make is quitting their full-time job even before completing their very first real estate deal! Undercapitalization is one of the biggest oversights when starting a new business. If you do decide to quit your full-time job, make sure you have enough of a monetary cushion to cover your living expenses for twelve months. Ideally, you want to have a surplus in your bank account in order to fund your business (i.e. – entity formation fees, licensing, marketing expenses).

Finally, will you be self-employed or a business owner? No, they are not the same thing! Being self-employed means when you stop working, your business stops working. If you are not marketing for leads or answering phones, then no one is. Being a business owner (hiring and maintaining employees) allows the freedom and independence that entice people to start their own businesses in the first place. Most amateurs quit their full-time job expecting to start and sustain their own business profitably, while playing golf or going to the beach four days a week. WRONG! The transition from self-employment to business ownership is the hardest obstacle to overcome. It took me almost a year of interviewing hundreds of job applicants, working fourteen hour days, pulling all-nighters, and sacrificing my personal and social life to successfully build and develop each of my businesses to the point where they could all run on “Auto-Pilot.”Remember, a business is only as strong as its weakest link.

I hope that what I have shared with you has been of great value. These observations and opinions are my own and stem from what I have learned and experienced over the last five years by way of educational literature, private entrepreneurship meet-up groups, numerous real networking events, and, by far the most crucial and valuable means, trial and error. Still there is so much to discuss and write considering that this topic, in itself, serves as the basis for three hundred page bibles! At the very least, herein lies the grounds and basic framework for preparing to start your own real estate business including obstacles to anticipate.

Choosing the Right Name for Your Small Business

Choosing a Business name is as important as making a business plan for your company. In choosing the right one, you must know that there are a lot of factors that you need to consider before deciding to launch it to the public. First, it is very important that the name you will choose must be legally obtainable meaning that there are no other businesses using your name. Your Business name should symbolize the product or services that do you and you will do for the years to come. You must consider business entities as trademarks, registration and effect of name branding. We have gathered some few tips to help you get started.

It is very important that your Business name should have your products and service. It also needs to convey something meaningful and positive about your business to your target customers. It could tell the key product feature, something that your customer can benefit from it. If you’re unsure of your business try to make a couple of name and rum them by your potential customer or can be your family member, and ask them what they think of your Business name. you may also want to consider the pronunciation of you Business name, make sure that people can easily say and read it because eventually people will start to talk about your business. Next is you have to make it a point that your customer can remember your Business name, when choosing a Business name think of something that is going to be memorable, a name that your costumer can easily think of and connect to your business. It can also help if your business name in not too long or it can even rhyme. Flexibility is another thing that you want to consider. The best example for this is amazon.com. Amazon doesn’t have any direct connection with books and so it was able to expand into music, gadgets and many other kinds of products, under on one name. Lastly, your business name should standout from the rest, your name should get people’s attention or interest so much so that they want to pull out their smart phone and Google your business just to see what it is all about. Also, pick something that will look good aesthetically on business card, in print, signage’s or even on T-shirts.

Now that you have a few suggestions for creating your business name you can institute your brainstorming session. Play around with various words and create a list of suitable candidates which you may come across. Repeat the words to yourself to hear how they sound aloud. Watch your friends’ and family to see how they respond to the name.

Entrepreneurship Formula – Step by Step Guide to Start Your Own Business Through Online Marketing

Many people have a big misconception that they have to quit their job to start their own business. In reality, it is perfectly doable to start a new business while you are still working. I highly recommend that anybody starting their own business gives themselves a year to start getting online exposure before leaping into anything. Laying down the foundation for online marketing success is most important. These days, if you are not online, you will struggle to be truly successful.

First, I recommend that you start your own business as opposed to buying a franchise or becoming a reseller. Subway is not in the business of making you rich. Yes, some manage to do it. If it was a foolproof plan, however, everybody would own one. To avoid having to deal with manufacturers, begin a service type business. Also, think locally. When you are just getting started, don’t try to compete on a national level. Start small and work your way up little by little. If you take care with each step in the process, a few years down the line you’ll be ready to launch a much larger campaign and your competitors won’t know what hit them.

Lay down the foundation to get ranked highly on Google so your business can last for years to come. Follow these guidelines to make sure you do it right:

1. Pick a domain name that describes what you do. Do not name your company after your last name. Name it after the product or service. When I began my firm, I did not know this and it took me a while to get Google’s authority on a particular subject. Now, my site gets around 400 hits per day, though I feel this could have been achieved far more quickly if I had chosen a domain based on the service I was providing. Only use.com domains, and shorter names are better than longer ones. To give you an example of how important this is, Google “NYC Sales Recruiters.” Look at a company by the name of Sales Expert Executive recruiters. They have a template based 10 page website. Then, look at mine. We have 170 pages of articles written about sales recruiting. That is how much weight the search engine puts on domain names. It took me nearly a year to learn how to beat them in most categories.

2. Brand your company for Google. Start out with what are called long-tail keyword phrases. Long-tail keyword phrases are 5 words. When I began to learn online marketing, I went after words like “New York City sales recruiters.” Then, as time progressed, I began going after shorter keywords and the traffic to my site increased.

3. Study how to build backlinks to your website. There are tons of articles out there telling you how to do this. Building backlinks to your site is very important, and at first, should be done gradually. Right off the bat, the best way to build links is to submit your website to several website directories. You can find these through some very basic research. It’s well worth the money. Then, begin a blog and frequently update it with posts. Have HTML links with the keywords you are going after pointing back to your site. Also, write interesting articles and submit them to online article sites such as Ezine. Writing is the key to gaining backlinks to your site and is the most important facet of online marketing success. However, when submitting your first articles to these sites, make sure they are perfect. If you mess up on the first few, the editors will dismiss your subsequent efforts.

4. Keep track of your site’s progress. You should begin to see an increase in website traffic and your Google page rank start to climb. Make sure people can contact you through the website. There is no better way to gauge your success with online marketing then how many clients are coming in.

So that’s opening your own business, in a nutshell. Depending on the industry you choose and the product or service you are selling, you will run in to your own unique problems and obstacles. Figuring out how to get past them, however, is just part of the fun.

Domain Names Are the Life Blood of Your Online Business

When you decide to start your online marketing business, you need to create a business plan to help you stay organized and on track just as you would with any conventional business. But, one thing that is of immense importance to your online business is your domain name. Finding the right domain name for your online business is as important as wings are to a bird. When you have the right domain name, you will be reaching the right customers, you will be able to build up your business, and your website will be easy to manage because you will be able to target the right market.

Domain names nearly always fall into one of these two categories; short and catchy or long and wordy. The name you choose will impact your website and your online marketing business in a very major way. Spending time creating a great website will be wasted if you do not have the right domain name. You must develop your business plan, determine who your customers, contacts, or viewers are and then choose the perfect domain name.

Test it first

Once you have chosen the right domain name, it is of great importance that you test it. There are so many different variations for a domain name that you may have to test it many times before you get it right. You want a domain that is not too common and most importantly, one that is not too confusing. Be very cautious when using domain names with numbers in them. For example, the domain name – products4less.com will probably get confused with productsforless.com and productsfourless.com. Don’t get yourself to locked onto one specific domain name. In this instance, you would want to make sure you own all 3 domain names. There would never be any customers lost to the other websites if all three of them were owned by you and leading to the same website.

Another thought to keep in mind is if you are selling a particular product, search for it on Google and other search engines. See what the top four or five things are when you search for that product keyword. You want to create your domain name based on that keyword search so it will be at the top of the search engines. Think about when you do a search for a business. How do you search for it? What keywords do you type in the search engine to help you find that business or the products that business sells? Think of yourself as your customer. You are no different than they are. Put yourself in their shoes. What would you be searching for when looking for your online business.

What do you do if the.com is not available?

This is a very tough situation. Some marketers, including myself, feel that a.com domain is the most important domain name to own. Others, however, feel that you can be just as effective with a.net or any of the other domains available. Sometimes the domain name you like is not available with the.com but it may be available with the.net. You will have to do a little research and determine if the person who owns the.com is going to pull too many of your customers away. You may want to consider a new domain name instead.

You also have the option of buying the domain name from the person who owns it if they are not using it. Be careful here, though. Sometimes they will command a price tag that is just plain ridiculous. I have seen some domain names go for more than $50,000. That’s just plain crazy.

When searching for the right domain name, you may want to consider a few other options and number them in the order of importance. Decide which is your top pick, second choice, third choice, and so on.

Your online marketing business does not REQUIRE a.com domain name, but it is the most common and easiest for people to remember. There is such a presence on the internet these days, that.net domain names are becoming nearly as valuable as their.com counterparts. When you have made your final decision and purchase your domain name, I would strongly suggest that you not only get the.com, but also the.net and even perhaps the.info or.biz. You never know when you might use these extra domain names. I use my.net and.info domains nearly as much as my.com names whenever I am running a campaign on the internet. This is a great way to split test your ads and see where the majority of the leads are coming from, allowing you to fine tune your expenses.

Using Google Alerts to Help Your Business

At times it seems that Google releases more new products and services than we can keep track of. From Google Calendar and Google Video, to Google Base, Google Finance, and Google Trends, it can be overwhelming just to remember what each one does. One of the oft overlooked hidden gems in Google’s enormous offering is Google Alerts. Within minutes, one can be signed up for email alerts that can give them and their business a leg up on the competition. Alerts can be used to spy on competitors, keep track of what people are saying about your business, or follow an important news story.

How Does It Work

Google Alerts sends you an email each time a new page for your chosen term makes it in the top twenty results on Google’s web search. You can also have the alert check Google News and/or Google Groups. To sign up for a Google Alert, all that you need to do is visit the Google Alerts homepage (http://www.google.com/alerts), enter the search term, type of alert (search Google News, Google Groups, or the web), frequency of emails (daily, as it happens, or weekly), and your email address. You can set up alerts for as many terms as you like using a Google Account. So why would you want an unlimited amount of alerts? Because as a business owner, you have a lot to keep track of and very limited time to do it.

Spy on Your Competitors

Every business has a competitor. More likely, you have several direct competitors and several more indirect competitors. While regularly checking out their websites is an important part of the process, it doesn’t paint the whole picture. A competitor’s website is very much crafted to the image that they want to portray to their customers. This is great if you want to know what their latest sale is or how much their new product costs, but it isn’t likely to feature a negative review in last Sunday’s newspaper.

That’s where Google Alerts comes in. By simply setting up a News, Groups, and search alert for each of your competitors, you will know what other people are saying about your competition – both the media and consumers, both good and bad.

Keep Up To Date on Your Industry

Equally as important as what people are saying about your competition is what people are saying about your industry in general. If there’s a negative PR swing against violent video games, and you just happen to run a video game store, you will probably be affected. By receiving alerts on important key words related to your industry, you can be on top of any sudden changes and react accordingly. By the time your competition realizes what’s happening they will be scrambling to catch up to you.

Track Yourself and Your Business

It goes without saying, if it’s important to know what people are saying about your competitors and about your industry, it would stand to reason that it’s important to know what people are saying about you. I have Google Alerts on both my name and my businesses name. I know that they go hand in hand – if one is getting slandered you better bet it will hurt the other. By receiving alerts, you can be on top of anything negative relating to you or your business, and hopefully nip any problem in the bud before it grows too large. On the flip side, there’s nothing better than receiving an alert where someone praises your business. Those are the types of things that you want to make sure are on the PR page of your businesses website.

Get News Stories for Your Site or Blog

I own a site where I do weekly news updates about what’s going on in the industry. Some weeks, there are tons of news items to choose from, other weeks it’s hard to find anything. In addition to the regular industry news sites that I check to get information, I have Google Alerts set up for each of the key terms. You’d be surprised how frequently a unique story from a local newspaper pops up in Google News. Many times these stories haven’t been seen by my competitors and I am able to “break” the news to the online community. This works well for blogs too – if you have a daily blog about being an entrepreneur, having an alert for the word “entrepreneur” can fetch you several quality stories each day to help inspire fresh posts.

In this increasingly competitive business world, you need each and every leg up on your competition that you can get. Used properly, Google Alerts can be an extremely efficient way to track what’s going on across the web. The alternative would be to search each term every day for new updates. Who has time for that? Spending less time researching enables you to spend more time on the things important to your business.
